On my Pinterest browsing spree, whilst feeling a tad overwhelmed by the ‘how to run your blog’ posts, I came across the Harry Potter blog post tag and, naturally, that had to be my next post. Harry Potter is one of my favourite things ever, closely followed by Supernatural and Game of Thrones, so it’s only fitting I go into some detail…
1. What house are you in?
Ravenclaw. For years I thought I was a Slytherin, but the Pottermore sorting makes SO much more sense. I now have Ravenclaw scarves and merch to prove it…
2. What is your patronus?
A Dun Mare, which is surprising I guess since I’m not really a horsey person. But they’re certainly beautiful, majestic animals so I suppose if the shoe fits… 😉
3. What is your wand?
4. What would your boggart be?
Probably something that embodies failure and loss. Or a giant spider, the same as Ron.
5. What position would you play in Quidditch?
Seeker! I’m small and petite, I’d be perfect for it. Aside from the clumsy nature and bad coordination…
6. Would you be a pureblood, half-blood or muggle born?
Pureblood, but not an elitist like the Malfoys. Magical learning is for all. I just think it would be fascinating doing the family tree for a long line of pureblood wizards.
7. What job would you want after to have after graduating Hogwarts?
Dragon tamer, with Charlie Weasley. Or Gringotts curse breaker, either of those sound brilliant. I think I just want to work with the elder Weasley brothers, to be honest.
8. Which of the deathly hallows would you choose?
The cloak, for sure. I’m actually contemplating a Deathly Hallows tattoo, I just need to decide exactly where on my body to put it. Between my shoulder blades is my current position of choice?
9. Favourite book?
HP and the Half-Blood Prince, and the Deathly Hallows. I find her writing much more developed and the storylines much more intriguing than the earlier books, and we have some brilliant characters – although Prisoner of Azkaban will always hold a special spot, too!
10. Least favourite book?
HP and the Chamber of Secrets. I’m not sure why – I just was never a fan, and although I’ve read it and listened to the audiobook countless numbers of times I just can’t get into it in the same way as the others.
11. Favourite film?
Deathly Hallows, parts 1 & 2. So many emotions, so many compelling scenes, and the ending just wrecks me every time.
12. Least favourite film?
Chamber of Secrets. Again, not entirely sure why but I’m just not into it. Although Lockhart was extremely entertaining.
13. Favourite character?
It’s a three-way tie between Sirius, Snape, and Draco Malfoy. All three wonderfully flawed, damaged characters with so much good hidden inside them. I cry every time I read Sirus and Snape’s death scenes. Snape’s in particular really upset me for a long time, and I was in denial about Sirius until the very end of the very last book.
14. Least favourite/most hated character?
Umbridge. I was listening to Order of the Phoenix on my commute and almost had to turn it off for a while because I cannot stand her whatsoever. Vile woman.
15. Favourite teacher at Hogwarts?
McGonagall. What a woman. I would love to learn Transfiguration from her, plus she manages the perfect balance between strict teacher and caring mentor.
16. Least favourite teacher at Hogwarts?
Binns. I almost fall asleep just hearing his name. Poor guy.
17. Do you have any unpopular opinions about the series?
I actually really don’t like Harry. I find him really arrogant and whiny (particularly in OOTP) and he’s a bit of a Mary Sue character to some extent. I think there are many more characters in the series that are more well-rounded and developed, and Harry just isn’t to my tastes.
Cursed Child should never have been written.
Also, JK Rowling’s overuse of the word ‘said’ grates on me.
Are you into Harry P? If so, steal this tag and post it on your own blog! Anyone else in their thirties and still waiting for their Hogwarts letter…?
