It’s February, the most romantic month of the year. Am I right? It’s Valentine’s Day in two short weeks! And the gift guides are cropping up everywhere (which is great for me since I need inspiration – aren’t men really tough to buy for?!) and rather than do one for the special someone in your life I thought I’d be completely selfish and do one for me. I basically just wanted to show you all what I’m coveting this month – and to see the things you’re lusting after in return!
I do love Valentine’s Day. My husband and I (eek, I still love that I can say that, excuse the newlywed excitement) never go overboard with wild gifts, we tend to just go out for a nice meal together and swap cards – and if I’m lucky a bunch of flowers will adorn the dining table. We both lead such busy lives that to be honest having that date in the diary to make sure we do go for dinner or go out for a walk is a great thing for us. So while I don’t think splurging on teddy bears and chocolates is essential for a nice Valentine’s Day, I do think it’s a nice reason to arrange to do something special together and clink a glass of prosecco (or two) across the dinner table.
This little gift guide is purely indulgent fun. Because self-love is just as important as loving your significant other, and sometimes treating yourself can brighten up a rough day or just put a smile on your face. If you’re not currently seeing anyone – which is cool, don’t let the Hallmark holiday make you feel like you must find a partner ASAP – why not treat yourself this Valentine’s Day and enjoy a drink or two with your friends, your pet, or your favourite TV show because why the hell not? Get those Friends reruns switched on, they can always be relied on for a good giggle (stay clear of Grey’s Anatomy, though, unless a sob-fest is what you’re going for).
And let’s be honest: watching Friends from the comfort of the sofa with a cup of coffee and a puppy to cuddle is probably how I’ll be spending the end of Valentine’s Day too, even if we do go out for a meal earlier in the evening!
Treat Yourself This Valentine’s Day!
You can probably get a good grasp of my general style from the above selection: comfy sweaters and tees, cute PJs, and rose gold everything.
Since I’m trying to cut back on spending so that I can save for holidays and exciting house developments, this is window-shopping only for me but feel free to click through and make a cheeky purchase if anything catches your eye – and let me know if you do!
